I was able to get my hands on a demo pair of the 2010 bib shorts.  All the changes are great, with the new pad being truly outstanding.

However, here's one question.  I don't have huge legs and I found that there was a bit of excess material near the new gripper that wasn't as snug as I'd like.  This could be solved by tapering the cut in my about a half inch.  If this was done then cool, if not, I'll go down one size and use a pair of mediums for 2010.

-Thanks, Todd

Thanks for your comments. We actually found on our test samples that our new Silicone gripper from Italy has a problem with stretch when it is being set in the leg hem. It actually was growing almost an inch in sewing. We have made changes to the pattern and gripper which fully address this issue.

Thank you again for your comments. Keep them coming.

Regarding Todd's reply, I found exactly the same thing. Thumbs up on all changes but normally, I fit a med or a lg depending on the maker. I've tried four makers since I've been back on and chasing the comfort grail. With Voler pattern sizing, while I found the Medium bib to be a fit there was no tension, no contact at the elastic cuff gripper. Surprisingly to me I could fit the small but there was scarcely any tension from the elastic gripper.

Help guys....

Charles, thanks for your input.  I didn't think I was the only rider out there with this situation.  It brings back a memory from when Voler had a sizing problem with their Large and XL wind booties for their 2008 production run of our team gear.  The taper on the wind booties flared out.  Not good for cyclists, but pretty good for people with "cankles" (i.e. fat ankles).  It was eventually fixed, but for the first couple of TT's I did that season I had to pin down my shoe covers so they wouldn't flap in the wind.

Ugh.  Media port hole.  I'd like to jam riders wearing headphones into a media port hole.

I agree with MC Nugget about the media port hole.  It almost seems like a liability exposure for Voler to encourage people to listen to headphones while riding.  I won't ride with someone listening to music, too dangerous for all parties involved.

Then don't! See you both on the other side of the media hole....15 minutes behind.

The media port holes are mainly for teams that carry radios...  We do not condone or recommend riding on the road while listening to your mp3 player.

Ha!  I love climbing up the local Bay Area hills and passing people with headphones.  I'll say "Hi" as I pass them and it scares the crap out of them because they didn't hear me rolling up behind them.

Your team gear stuff is great & gets better each year. I wish you would make a race cut jersey & not just a club cut. I also like your idea of a port hole, its about time. The 2010 bibs look cool can't wate to try them

Race and club cuts are available for both men and women in short sleeve and sleeveless jerseys, and long sleeve jerseys. You can mix and match them in the order. BTW, I am the NorCal Voler rep. Maybe your team didn't order race cut before. With the online ordering, you can order for yourself and make sure to get exactly what you want.

I accidentally clicked on the stars and rated the FS bottoms 2 stars. In fact, I love them. Just for full disclosure, I'm the NorCal rep and have been involved in the whole process of R and D. But, I didn't plan to enter my not impartial rating at all. Since I did, and made a typographical error, I wanted to clarify.

"The media port holes are mainly for teams that carry radios...  We do not condone or recommend riding on the road while listening to your mp3 player."

Yet, in the picture for the media port hole, there is a distinct iPod-looking device partially in the photo...

I'm 6'6", 220lbs, usually a 44 chest, 38 waste.  Based on the sizing chart is seems like I'd be between a XL and a XXL.  Any suggestions?
